EQUANS are recruiting for a Building Surveyor to be based in Grimsby DN32 0LL. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £22,000 – £28,000 dependent upon skills and experience.

General Overview

This is a great opportunity for a confident and motivated professional seeking career & personal development opportunities to join our Technical Services Team in the delivery of the North East Lincolnshire contract – supporting the delivery of Disabled Facility Grant (DFG) adaptations to domestic properties. You will assist with the design and delivery of DFG construction projects as part of a group of building surveyors, and develop plans and specifications to support specific DFG construction work.

What will you deliver?

Provide design and technical support to building construction projects. Design of projects through site visits and the development of plans and specifications to deliver the requirements identified in the clinical assessment.
Assist with providing technical advice and guidance on domestic property and/or DFG construction projects.
Assist in the development of briefs, specifications, scopes of work and any other technical information to contribute to the delivery of DFG schemes, procurement and client’s briefings.
Develop knowledge to ensure all technical information provided is accurate to legislative standards, ACoPs and best practice.
Assist to manage, as part of your development minor works and property construction projects, utilising the project management process and principals within EQUANS.
Assist, as part of your development, with the issuing of works orders ensuring compliance with legislative, contractual and workmanship requirements, including the briefing and commissioning of all consultants and clients.
Assist, as part of your development to prepare option appraisals, feasibility studies, estimates and the production of technical reports as required. Ensure that value is added to the work of the Section through innovation and creativity. Advise Clients and Service Managers on options and recommendations.
Assist as part of your development to direct and monitor works to include contract variations, project costs and final accounts as appropriate. Assist in evaluating and determining appropriate actions where problems occur and report to client.
Operate within the policies, systems and business plans of the Partnership and EQUANS
Deliver all works in compliance with EQUANS Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards and policies in line with ISO 45001 (Health & Safety), 14001 (Environmental) & ISO 9001 (Quality).
Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level.

Required Experience

Ideally experienced in delivering DFG work packages and/or building surveys with a background in the management of high-quality building construction projects in the Public and Private sectors.

To meet the requirements and demands of the post, you will need to demonstrate the following:


Experience in a building design or maintenance environment with experience in a variety of property construction projects
Attitude, conduct and demeanour to reflect the EQUANS values and effectively represent the company when dealing with customers, consultants and contractors.
Strong desire to share and support the future growth and success of the Partnership.
IT skills and experience of working with database systems are essential in ensuring an effective service.
An understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to meet deadlines.
Numeracy, statistical, communication and presentation skills
Adaptability to change and new ways of working
Flexibility in approach to meet the needs of the service


Experience and qualification in Auto CAD/2D & 3D
Experience of Building Regulations and planning applications
Experience of CDM Regulations 2015
