Job Purpose To take accountability and responsibility for the management of the day to day running of your relevant Business Unit from a Technical perspective and managing associated resource with this.
You role is to create & embed a continuous improvement culture including & not limited to KPI’s, Management information, service levels and audit outcomes and results.
This role will be relied upon to generate outstanding technical results for your relevant business unit year upon year & provide Technical expertise to deliver the agreed food, customer and site safety priorities, strategies and projects.
Key Accountabilities Lead the ownership of GMP, HACCP, food safety, quality, customer specified requirements and legality at all levels whilst driving continuous improvement.
Lead the HACCP teams, ensuring regular reviews, maintenance of systems and implementation into the business.
Strict adherence to financial key measures of success linked to business unit performance.
Lead customer focused responsibilities including day to day contact and leading customer related Technical activities where require leading customer related Technical activities where required.
Solid interaction with relevant business stakeholder outside of the business unit that have influence i.e.
supply chain, specifications, RMQA for example.
Lead, challenge and be involved in the evaluation of risk and required controls, for existing processes and prior to introduction of new process, products or raw materials.
Effectively manages regular customer communication on all business unit Technical matters Working with the cross functional teams to ensure full compliance with all company and customer requirements and codes of practice having a responsibility for providing data to complete the KPIs for the respective business unit.
To exercise diligence and independent judgement to promote transparent, values-led and professional management of the department.
Provide Technical input into product trials and launches as required, including ensuring accurate information is available and implemented at product launch Lead & challenge pest control compliance for relevant area of the site.
Monitor standards of factory hygiene and manufacturing standards.
Work in partnership across multi-disciplinary teams bringing together the best outcomes and results for the business unit.
Ensure adherence to all business processes and procedures and actively drive improvements Ensure processes and procedures eliminate waste in the processes as much as feasibly possible.
Ensure all products are produced to approved specifications.
This includes liaising with relevant internal functions as necessary.
Ensure that early management is applied to NPD, equipment and packaging projects and provide Technical input into product trials and launches as required.
Support the completion of all HACCP, VACCP, TACCP activities and documentation for your business unit.
Lead, challenge, conduct and co-ordinate first party audits on other business units and sites across the Young’s estate.
To utilise organisational and local MI to identify and prioritise cluster Technical agendas to achieve organisational technical goals & ensure MI is consistent, honest, open, routinely reviewed.
Work closely with business unit and site functions to ensure all technical activities are being managed.
Skills and Experience Required Graduate calibre Previous experience within a similar Technical / QA Management role in a chilled food Working experience of HACCP, BRC & retailers code of practice in a manufacturing environment Working experience of HACCP, BRC & retailers code of practice Food Science degree would be desirable.
Level 4 Food Hygiene (or equivalent) desirable Food Science degree would be desirable.
Advanced HACCP (or equivalent) desirable 2 years of Technical leadership experience; with exposure to FMCG environments, M&S audit standards and being ‘audit ready’.
Experience of working in Chilled and frozen environments working with coated products and white fish processing products.
Evident confidence in presentation, communication and negotiating with professional peer groups.
Efficient in delivering objectives and key measures.
Ability to lead paper-trail and traceability segments of audits and ensure delegated administrators are able to lead also.
